Flavor Blast “Butters”!

These great “butter” blast toppers are top 9 free.  They will add pizazz to your dishes!

Level: Apprentice     Category: Side          Time: 30 minutes     Yields: ½ Cup per recipe

1. Garlic & Chive

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Allergy Friendly Butter at room temperature (Earths Balance)
  • 1 TSP minced garlic
  • 1 TSP dried chives (can use fresh)
  • ¼ TSP Salt
  • Pinch of Pepper

2. Lemon & Thyme

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Allergy Friendly Butter at room temperature (Earths Balance)
  • 1 TSP Thyme
  • 1 TSP Lemon Zest or 1 TSP Lemon Juice
  • ¼ TSP Salt

3. Maple & Cinnamon (great for breakfast and potato dishes)

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Allergy Friendly Butter at room temperature (Earths Balance)
  • 1 TBL Maple Syrup
  • 1 TSP Cinnamon
  • ¼ TSP Orange Zest (optional)

Tools:

  • Measuring Spoons
  • Medium Bowl
  • 1 Large Spoon for Mixing
  • Plastic Wrap or Parchment Paper

Instructions:

  1. Place your room temperature allergy friendly butter into the mixing bowl. 
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients of your flavor choice recipe to the butter.  Stir until well combined.
  3. Spoon your mixture onto the plastic wrap or parchment paper and form into a log shape.
  4. Roll up your butter log and place in the refrigerator.
  5. Chill for 3 hours and take out and cut slices to place on top or your food.

Tips: You can use these toppings on hot proteins, pastas and vegetables. They will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days and the freezer for up to 6 months. 

Tricks: You can precut circles of your butter individually wrap them up and place in the freezer.  This is a quick and easy way to grab one and pop it on top of your favorite dish.
