Super Squash Facts!

Top 9 Allergen Free!

I have learned some amazing storage facts about Butternut and Spaghetti Squash that are EXTREMELY useful at this time!  After I found out the facts below, I immediately called my husband and him pick up a few of each to add to our food supply.

This is a perfect time to add a few squash to your pantry items. They store well, easy to cook and taste amazing!

Did you know?

1. You can store whole unpeeled butternut and spaghetti squash in a cool, dark dry place for up to 1-2 months

*NOTE- You can store the whole unpeeled & uncooked squash in the refrigerator but it will only last 1-2 weeks.  It actually lasts longer in a dry, dark and cool place than in the refrigerator.

2. Cooked these two types of squash will last in an airtight container or covered in plastic wrap for up to 3 to 5 days. Refrigerate your squash within 2 hours of cooking to prevent bacteria growth.

3.  When picking out your Spaghetti or Butternut Squash, choose a firm, unblemished squash that ideally has a stem intact. See my blog posts on my recipes for cooking Spaghetti Squash and Butternut Squash
